On September 17, the Turnkey Linux developers, through Jeremy Davis, had the enormous pleasure of announcing the release of the final version of their TurnKey Linux 14.0 highly specialized virtual appliances created specifically for servers.

Based on the latest stable, most advanced Debian GNU/Linux 8.0 (Jessie) operating system, the new TurnKey Linux 14.0 release comes with a great number of new features, a new set of appliances, and many under-the-hood improvements and bugfixes. This is also the first-ever release of TurnKey Linux to be distributed only for 64-bit platforms.

Prominent features of TurnKey Linux 14.0 include replacement of the PHPMyAdmin and PHPPgAdmin software with Adminer as the default database management tool, hardened default SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) settings, and the addition of Monit, a minimalist monitoring system that alerts users when CPU, RAM, and/or HDD limits are hit, via email.

"To be honest I had expected that the TurnKey v14.0 release would have been finished months ago. But after witnessing first hand how much effort a release takes," says Jeremy Davis. "TurnKey has always aimed to be a community production. [...] Not only has the community provided some new appliances; but also helped drive feature development and implementation."

New TurnKey appliances are here!

In addition to the numerous new features mentioned above, TurnKey Linux 14.0 introduces new appliances, among which we can list the following: TurnKey Linux Ansible, TurnKey Linux EspoCRM, TurnKey Linux Foodsoft, TurnKey Linux Laravel, TurnKey Linux SuiteCRM, TurnKey Linux Drupal 8, and TurnKey Linux Joomla 3.

Of course, TurnKey Linux 14.0 is not a perfect release, so there are a few limitations here and there that you might want to check out before attempting to download and install the appliances, but nothing that important to keep you away. The latest TurnKey Linux 14.0 release is available for download right now from Softpedia.
