App no longer available from the App Store

Another iOS app has disappeared all of a sudden, and just like it happened in past cases, Apple doesn’t say a single word about what happens.

This time, it’s the official Tumblr app the one that went dark, and according to a report from PiunikaWeb, the first complaints in this regard surfaced last week.

However, it looks like only users with parental controls enabled were unable to download Tumblr at first, but as it turns out, the restriction has been expanded to cover all users on iOS, so the app can no longer be found on the app store.

Given these reports, there’s a chance Tumblr has been removed because of the inappropriate content that’s available within the app, though without an official statement from Apple, it’s all just a guess.

Investigation under way

Tumblr itself has already confirmed there are some issues with its iOS app, but said it’s investigating and working to bring it back to the store.

“We’re working to resolve an issue with the iOS app and hope to be fully functional again soon. We really appreciate your patience as we figure this out, and we’ll update this article when we have news to share,” the company said in a statement before adding the following:

“Thanks for checking back with us. We’re still working on the issue with the iOS app. We’ll let you know right here the minute everything’s fixed.”

Whatever happened to the app still hasn’t been resolved and at the time of writing this article, the Tumblr app can’t be downloaded on iOS devices.

However, it looks like the app has just been unlisted from the App Store and not banned entirely. Users who have previously installed Tumblr can get it from their library, while new users cannot find the app in the App Store search.
