The company recommends users to visit its website

Tumblr, one of the most popular social networking mobile apps, has just been removed from Windows Store, as Windows Phone platform has become of little to no interest for the company behind the application.

Without any warning or announcements that would have allowed Windows Phone users to look for alternatives, Tumblr removed its Windows Phone application from the store.

Although we initially thought that Tumblr would only be briefly removed from Windows Store, it looks like developers have no intention to continue to support Windows Phone platform.

The information comes via a message received by one of Tumblr's users who asked developers why the application is missing from Windows Store. Here is the reply received from a Tumblr official:

“Thanks for asking about the Windows Phone app. We’re no longer supporting it, but you can still enjoy Tumblr by visiting http://tumblr.com in your mobile browser. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you'll write back if there's anything else I can help you with.”

Updated and removed in less than week

Ironically, Tumblr has been updated for the first time in many years less than a week ago, so if you had the application installed on your smartphone, you probably upgraded to the latest version, which is also the last.

Unfortunately, even if initial reports suggested that Microsoft and Tumblr have a good relationship regarding Windows Phone development, it looks like the latter lost interest in this platform and will not be back, at least for a while.

Tumblr is likely to divert all resources to Android and iOS development since Windows Phone market share is almost negligible.

If you're still onto Tumblr even after the company withdrew its support for Windows Phone platform, you can follow developers’ advice and visit the site in your browser. Alternatively, you can search for third-party apps in Windows Store.
