After teasing fans of the Trine trilogy with a trailer for the third installment of the long-running platforming and adventure series back in March 2015, Frozenbyte Games unveiled the availability of Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power in Steam Early Access for the Windows platform in May.

In August, the game was officially released for Windows users. Fast forward to October 5, and we're happy to announce that the Frozenbyte Games developers have published details about the release of the Beta builds for GNU/Linux and Mac OS X operating systems on the Steam website.

"We've just updated the game, and the Mac and Linux BETA versions are now available for everyone to try. Also the Windows version has been updated with lots of fixes! Check out the full list of changes below," reads the announcement posted by the Frozenbyte Games developers on October 5, 2015.

Of course, this comes as exciting news for those of you who were eagerly awaiting the release of the Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power game for Linux kernel-based operating systems. Being a Beta build and all that, it has a host of known issues that you should read about in the release notes before attempting to install and play the game.

Beta is now available via Steam for Linux

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a cross-platform platforming game that includes adventure, action, and puzzle elements. It is the sequel to the award-winning Trine and Trine 2 game, now available for the first time in full 3D. The game comes with a single-player mode, as well as a co-up mode that supports up to three players.

Without any further ado, you can get Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power Beta for GNU/Linux distributions, SteamOS, as well as Mac OS X operating systems right now from its dedicated Steam product page. The developers recommend that you play the game on a computer that runs a 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS OS or newer, and 8GB RAM.
