The Vampire Counts have long been the mysterious new faction of Total War: Warhammer and The Creative Assembly is finally ready to show gamers some details about the race via a new in-engine made cinematic trailer.

Gamers can take a look at the powerful Mannfred Von Carstein, the main Legendary Lord that will lead the armies of the faction, and get a taste of the units and the tactics they will use when battling their enemies.

The Creative Assembly states, "In the forsaken lands of Sylvania, the sun refuses to rise. Twisted, buckled trees and a windless mist herald the advance of a darkness that has haunted the nightmares of men for millennia. An unliving host advances, a tide of resurrected corpses, driven on by necromantic magic and the immortal will of their masters."

Mannfred von Carstein is a powerful necromancer and a solid war leader, able to raise and command armies of undead that include skeletons, grave guards, bat-winged beasts, monsters and even a zombie dragon.

The Creative Assembly is not yet ready to show off the entire list of units that gamers who choose the Vampire Counts will be able to recruit and use in combat, and there are no details yet about their second Legendary Lord.

Total War: Warhammer blends classic strategy and fantasy elements

This is the first title in the classic franchise that abandons history to draw inspiration from the universe created by Games Workshop, and The Creative Assembly says that it is trying to integrate as much lore as possible into the gameplay.

The Vampire Counts, the Empire, the Greenskins and the Dwarves will have very different mechanics on the campaign map, and each will be able to field unique forces while also using magic attacks to influence the way battle progresses.

The developers have recently announced that they are changing the mechanics of the siege battles in order to make them more exciting, with a focus on the combat that's needed to take the walls and gates.

The Creative Assembly is also promising improved Artificial Intelligence and a better engine that will bring the Old World to life as players try to protect it from the assault of Chaos.

Total War: Warhammer is set to be launched on May 24 on the PC after getting delayed by one month and gamers are encouraged to place a pre-order so that they can choose to play as the Chaos warrior faction.
