Modding Fallout 4 can change the gameplay completely

Bethesda's Fallout 4 is not a perfect game, but it's really flexible and modders are changing it as we speak. Here are some of the most used mods for Fallout 4.

It's easy to list all the mods that I consider to be useful or interesting, but the community usually finds other points of interest. The same can be said about the mods for Fallout 4, and the preferences of the community are quite eclectic. In fact, checking to see what other people prefer is a good way of finding out about cool stuff that you might have missed.

Fallout 4 uses the Creation Engine, and it's the same one from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, so everyone knows that it's going to be modded beyond all recognition.

A lot of the know-how from the previous five years of changing Skyrim has been used for Fallout 4, but the true explosion will happen once the official editing tools are launched this spring by Bethesda.

Most preferred mods

Since all of these mods can be found on nexusmods.com, we also took the data for the most endorsed. This seems like a better metric than the "most downloaded" sorting option since these are votes from people who liked, not just downloaded something.

First place is taken by Fallout 4 Configuration Tool, which is a very handy tool that allows users to change a number of options without having to edit INI files. Things like FOV, God Rays, mouse sensitivity are all available.

The second place is called Glorious Female Nude Mod, and it doesn't really need any kind of explanation.

Enhanced Wasteland Preset is on third, and it's one of the first released for the game. It changes the aspect of the game with different shading techniques. It doesn't have an effect on performance.

The fourth place is occupied by Lowered Weapons and it's pretty explicit. The players now walk and run with their weapons down, as it would happen in real life (without the apocalypse).

Finally, Enhanced Blood Textures is on five. The blood appears in a more normal fashion. It might seem like a weird mod, but it was a successful one for Skyrim, which means that the community enjoys accuracy.
