And they're all as terrible as you'd think they are

A hacking group that calls itself CynoSure Prime has managed to crack almost a third of the encrypted passwords from the Ashley Madison leaked database.

Previously thought to be impossible thanks to the slow pace and high stress it puts on a computer's CPU, the CynoSure Prime group managed to crack over 11 million passwords from the total of 36 million, mainly due to a programming error in how the passwords were hashed.

What's more impressive is that they achieved this in just 10 days, accomplishing a task that would have otherwise taken hundreds of years to finish.

With the data out in the open, now the fun part has begun, and that's to find the most used passwords.

As you'd imagine, just like most of us, Ashley Madison users weren't that original when choosing passwords.

Out of the 11 million cracked passwords, only 4.6 million were unique, and what's even worse, the most reused passwords are usually the most simple, the ones you regularly see in end-year surveys that assess the sad state of online security.
