According to rumors, Tom Cruise, the number 1 celebrity “face” of the ill-famed Church of Scientology, is a horrible person in real life, the kind of person that would banish his 14-year-old niece from the family, including her own mother, for catching her kiss a boy. How un-Scientology of her!

All talk of Tom Cruise the person aside, Tom Cruise the actor remains one of the most consistent and reliable action movie stars of our times. Even if his latest film, “Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation,” which opens this Friday, fails to deliver at the box office, it won’t be by any fault of his.

The video below, courtesy of io9, shows how Cruise’s skills as a stuntman have evolved throughout the “M:I” franchise and how each movie brought new challenges, and even more insane stunts and action scenes.

Admittedly, in “Rogue Nation,” there isn’t a single scene in which Ethan Hunt isn’t Tom Cruise, which is to say, he did all the stunts, without exception. Obviously, moviegoers have no way of verifying that, but on the assumption that it’s accurate, Tom Cruise is really a daredevil.

Considering he hung on the side of a flying military plane and held his breath for over 6 minutes in “Rogue Nation,” one has to wonder what he’ll come up with for the next “M:I” installment.
