14 DAY TRIAL // Another day, another surprise TLC scandal, this time with the stars of the reality series Sister Wives. Kody Brown is husband to 4 women and father to 17 children, and his first wife Meri recently admitted to having embarked on an emotional affair and getting Catfished.
InTouch has proof that she’s lying: the affair wasn’t just emotional, it might have also been physical.
Meri and the affair
The other day, as news started to spread that she had not been faithful to her husband, Meri issued a statement on the topic: it’s true, 2015 had not been an easy year for her and she sought some form of comfort in an emotional affair with someone online.
Earlier this year, Kody divorced Meri so he could legally marry the youngest of the Sister Wives, because, this way, her children from a previous marriage would have benefitted from his insurance.
Meri also admitted to getting Catfished, a term used for when someone poses as someone else online and tricks people into thinking they have an actual relationship. Word online has it that the “Sam Cooper” she thought she was talking to online was actually a woman posing as a man.
She had told the family about the affair and was receiving their full support, Meri continued. You can see her statement word for word below, at the end of the article.
The affair wasn’t just emotional
This should have been the end of it, or so Kody and Meri must have hoped. It wasn’t: InTouch has released a message Meri left “Sam” on his phone, in which she’s trying to get him to talk to her and not end whatever relationship they had.
“Sam” insists that he’s real. And a man.
From what Meri is heard saying, it seems like the affair wasn’t only emotional, but also physical, even though she said in her statement she’d never met the person.
“Being with you is very special to me. It really is,” she says. “Please don’t take that away from us okay? It’s very special to me you know that… I guess I’ll just give you your space. I understand you need that. All of this just breaks my heart because I don’t know what is going on… Anyway I wish you weren’t so mad at me right now. I really hate it when you’re mad at me. I wish you weren’t mad.”

As for why this scandal is a huge thing, that’s because, while Kody is allowed to take as many wives as he pleases, they’re expected to be faithful to him at all times. Earlier this year, Meri was candid about how difficult it was for her to grant him the divorce so he could marry Robyn.
She is still a Sister Wife, but only one of the four is legally Kody’s wife. That’s Robyn right now.
