It turns out that we're getting a bargain

Apple's CEO Tim Cook has commented on the apparent steep price for the iPhone X, and explained that it’s actually cheap if you really think about it.

When imagining cheap or affordable products, the devices made by Apple are not among people’s choices. It’s true that Apple makes high-quality devices, but that also means that they are priced accordingly.

With each new generation of iPhone, reports are released that underline just how cheap the parts are in comparison with the finished product. For their latest iPhone X, Apple made some serious changes, including using new AMOLED screens, which have to be bought from Samsung. That’s just one example.

Value for your money

Tim Cook tried to explain during ABC's "Good Morning America" TV show that people are usually getting a bargain. When you see a $1,000 price tag attached to a phone it’s difficult to picture it as a bargain.

The argument is that for $1,000 you’re getting your money’s worth in technology and features. Apple’s CEO also said that very few people pay that kind of money up front and that most users will opt to pay for their phones in the long term.

The price might also go down when carriers will add various subsidies and discounts, so it’s not going to be a full $1,000. At least this is what we have to believe.

“When you look at it, the iPhone has become so essential in our daily lives, people wanted to do more and more with it. So we built more technology into it to be able to do that. Apple is not about selling the most of anything. Our objective is not big revenues, but to make the best product that enriches people’s lives, said Tim Cook.

The new iPhone X will start shipping on November 3 and pre-order will be available starting on October 27. The 64 Gb version will be priced at $999, but the 256Gb will have a price tag of $1,149.
