14 DAY TRIAL // A new season of UK’s Celebrity Big Brother has kicked off, and a simple glance at the celebrity contestants is enough to make you see there will be trouble: Tila Tequila, Jenna Jameson and Farrah Abraham are among the stars flown over from the US.
Tila has already been booted, after just one day in the BB House - and it’s all because of her track record as a Nazi sympathizer. To make matters even worse, she will also be going home without getting paid.
Tila is out already
In December 2013, Tila Tequila went on a series of rants on Facebook, in which she claimed Hitler had actually been a nice guy, but he was misunderstood. He was, she said, a “special and sweet kid” and a brilliant artist who was bullied and mocked, which turned him into the monster we know today.
She also posted the photo you can also see attached to this article, of herself in a mock Nazi uniform, complete with a swastika armband, standing in front of concentration camp Auschwitz.
She called herself “Hitler reborn” or “Hitila,” and made it clear that she espoused Hitler’s beliefs.
Somehow, Channel 5 and Endermol, the producers of Celebrity Big Brother, claim to have missed this when they did their research on Tila. As she made her debut on the show, viewers at home took to Twitter to express their outrage that an obvious Nazi sympathizer would be given such a platform from which she might make her views public, not to mention receive a paycheck at the end just for participating.
Some hours ago, she was removed from the house, the Daily Mail confirms.
Producers are sorry, they didn’t know
Tila’s departure has been confirmed in a statement in which producers are quick to stress how sorry they are for their mistake.
“Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother,” they say. “The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the program was untenable.”
She has already left the house and won’t be paid for her participation. As per her contract, Tila would have made £113,000 ($173,923 / €155,566) by being on the show alone, even if she didn’t win it.
Tila is yet to address the departure or the reason that got her the boot, but it’s likely she’ll do so soon judging by how much she drummed up her appearance on BB on social media.
