Windows 10 was developed to be installed on a wide array of devices and form factors, and at this point, a phone running Windows 10 Mobile is the best way to get the new OS with you wherever you go.

But as far as portability goes, there’s one device that pushes the boundaries. Called GOLE1, the PC that’s currently up for funding on IndieGogo comes with a display that measures only 5 inches and runs, as weird as it might sound, the full version of Windows 10 Home.

The device comes with specs that are at least in line with a decent configuration to run Microsoft’s new operating system: up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash memory, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI, USB 3.0, microUSB connectors, a TF card slot, and an audio jack.

The device is powered by an Intel Cherry trail T3 quad-core Z8300 processor and features an Intel Gen8 LP GPU unit. The 5-inch display has a resolution of 720x1280 pixels, and although it’s incredibly small, it supports 5-point touch, just like a traditional phone.

The GOLE1 runs both Windows 10 and Android 5.1, and you can switch between the two with an icon on the desktop of each.

What to do with a 5-inch PC?

It goes without saying that using a PC with a 5-inch screen might be a pretty painful experience, especially when Window 10 is the platform powering the computer, but the GOLE1 shouldn’t be used in the same way as a traditional PC.

Instead, it’s supposed to play a role similar to Continuum, Microsoft’s new feature that turns a Windows 10 Mobile into a portable computer when connected to a bigger screen. This PC can be used to stream Windows 10 to a projector, a monitor, or a TV using the HDMI port, but the difference from Continuum is that you get the full power of the operating systems whereas the mobile adapter only provides access to Windows 10 Mobile features.

GOLE1 will cost just $79 (€70) and is projected to reach the market in the summer. It has already hit the $30,000 goal on IndieGogo, so unless something goes wrong, it should enter production anytime soon.
