No, really, his name is Something Long and Complicated

A few years back, in 2007, a British man by the name of William Wood decided that he wasn't exactly happy with the name his parents had chosen for him. So he had it legally changed.

His name has since been Something Long and Complicated. It might sound pretty moronic at first, but when you think about it, it's actually quite catchy.

After all, how many Something Long and Complicated-s could there be in the world? If being unique was what was troubling him, the man most definitely got what he wanted.

He didn't count on Facebook giving him grief, though

Something Long and Complicated says that, soon after legally changing his name, Facebook got into the habit of deactivating his account every now and again on the grounds that he wasn't using his real moniker.

The man has had a Facebook account for 8 years now, and for a while, having it deactivated for no good reason didn't exactly tip him off.

Not long ago, however, when the same thing happened, Facebook refused to reinstate the account despite the fact that the British man sent copies of his driver's license, credit cards, mail and even his passport.

“They block my account, ask for ID. I give them Drivers licence passport and credit card (works for my employer, police and council). They say 'we can not use your ID to confirm your identity.'"

“I give them DL, passport, letter from police, letter from DVLA, electric bill, letter from council, work ID, bank card and letter from bank,” Something Long and Complicated explains.

It wasn't until the man made sure his troubles with Facebook grabbed media attention that he was welcome back to the social media site and his account was reactivated.

The man admits his name might not be all that common, but he also insists Facebook had no right to keep him out of his account, not after he sent them piles of documents identifying him as Something Long and Complicated.

There are even weirder names out there

If you think Something Long and Complicated is a funny name for an actual human being, then perhaps you should meet Abcdefg Hijklmn Opqrst Uvwxyz, a young woman living and teaching art in Colombia.

The woman changed her name to Abcdefg Hijklmn Opqrst Uvwxyz earlier this year. Before this, she was called Ladyzunga Cyborg. By the looks of it, there's nothing this woman loves more than changing her name to match her mood.
