If you’re one of those lucky fellows who purchased a Tesla Model S and at the same time have a Microsoft Band 1 or 2, then this app is simply a must-have.

The intuitively called Band for Tesla is an application that makes your Microsoft smart wristband a remote control for the Tesla Model S, coming with support for a custom tile, but also for several control options.

“Run the app once to create the custom tile and enter your account information. You can then close the app and it will be reactivated silently whenever you open the Tesla tile on your Band.  While in the background, Band for Tesla is idle and has no impact on data usage or battery life. The Tesla tile requires that your Band be within Bluetooth range of your phone,” the developer of the app explains.

Remote controls on your wrist

The custom Tesla tile on the Microsoft Band can provide you with information such as drive status (parked or driving) and current speed if you’re driving, location, inside temperature, door status (locked or unlocked), charging status, and time remaining until a full charge is reached.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for controls for your Tesla Model S, the app lets you lock and unlock doors, turn on the flash lights, honk, or start the car without a key.

As Rod Trent of WinSuperSite notes, in order to try out the app, users need to have a Tesla Model S, so unless you own the car, it’s nearly impossible to tell if it’s good or bad.

But on the other hand, it shows that Microsoft Band is improving a lot thanks to apps like this, which bring many more features on your wrist. The Band 2 was unveiled on October 6, 2015, and a new-generation model is likely to launch next year too.
