Hands-on video with iPhone 8 prototype reveals the new phone

Apple has become famous for its CIA-like secrecy regarding new products, including the iPhone, and the company has always struggled to prevent leaks before big releases like the upcoming iPhone 8.

But this time, however, leakers have done an amazing job and we know pretty much everything about the anniversary iPhone coming in September, even though Apple hasn’t said a single word about it.

And today we’re getting the closest look at the device thanks to a hands-on video posted by YouTuber EverythingApplePro, who got to try out an alleged iPhone 8 prototype together with a special case designed for it.

Confirming what we already knew

The most important thing that we learn from watching this video is that most of the leaks we’ve seen in the last couple of months were accurate. This means that the iPhone 8 will indeed come with an OLED screen that’s very likely to integrate the fingerprint sensor as well, but also with a sensor bar at the top for the front-facing camera, the face and iris recognition camera.

The back of the phone appears to be coming with a metal iPhone logo and a glass body, which could be an indication that Apple is considering offering wireless charging. This feature has been rumored to come on the iPhone for quite some time, so the September 2017 model could finally bring it to the market.

Other than that, there are some also smaller refinements here and there, such as a bigger power/lock button and an Apple logo that’s placed a bit lower than on the current models. A side-by-side comparison with the existing iPhone 7 shows that the iPhone 8 will be a bit bigger, though thanks to the narrow bezels it would offer a substantially larger display.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most dramatic overhauls of the iPhone since the original model launched in 2017, and fortunately, we know pretty much about it months ahead of the public launch. The only thing we hope is not accurate is the production issues that Apple is said to be experiencing and which would prevent the company from launching the iPhone in September.
