A glimpse in Google Chrome's future interface

Google's Chrome team has slowly started adding more and more Material Design sprinkles in the browser interface since this past spring.

Now, as features mounted up, we finally have a clearer view of the entire picture, and we see the direction Google will be trying to go with its browser's interface in the upcoming future.

Of course, not all the browser has been remade in Google's Material Design scheme, but the Extensions and Downloads pages work pretty fine to give us a small preview.

Material Design is Google's visual language styleguide, a set of rules its designers use for official Google products, but also a set of rules other designers and developers are also welcomed to follow.

The company has been slowly revamping almost all of its major products based on this design language, starting from Gmail, and even altering its famous search page, along with its logo.

Material Design is coming more slowly to Chrome, but it's coming

Chrome, due to the complexities surrounding programming desktop apps, has been left behind, since the browser needs a lot of testing. Despite Google's huge army of developers, the company cannot simply revamp an entire browser from head to toe using Material Design, and only small steps have been made.

If you want to see how a version of Google Chrome with basic Material Design features looks like, we made screenshots of the latest Canary release on a Windows 10.
