14 DAY TRIAL // 22-year-old Joel Miggler, born and raised in Germany, holds the Guinness World Record for the most holes deliberately punched into his face.
The man has 11 of them. Two of the absolute largest are on his cheeks and measure 3.4 centimeters (about 13.4 inches) across each. Then he has others on his nose, his lips, and whatever other patches of skin he could find.
They might look like holes, but Joel Miggler doesn't like to call them by this name. Instead, he refers to them as flesh tunnels. Apparently, this is the technical term for piercings made into hollows of no mean size using expanders.
Apart from these flesh tunnels that turned him into a Guinness World Record holder, 22-year-old Joel Miggler has a forked tongue, 6 tattoos, 27 piercings, and a few other body modifications that aren't for the faint of heart.
This is his way of expressing himself
Joel Miggler says he developed an obsession for body modifications when he was about 13 and he pierced his ears. As he grew older, things kind of snowballed.
He likes his flesh tunnels, piercings and tattoos so much he'll definitely get more. What's more, he plans to increase the holes in his cheek to a diameter of at least 4 centimeters (1.6 inches).
The 22-year-old is well aware that people can't stop but stare at him, but he doesn't mind. This is his way of expressing himself and what he does to his body is nobody's business but his own.
“When I walk around on the street, people only stare or sometimes ask me questions if they are interested in my jewelry. My mother likes most of my modifications and she has supported my decision to look the way I do.”
“In the future, I want to stretch my face even more - to be the most unique person. I just enjoy playing with my body,” Joel Miggler explains.
Body modifications aside, he's a regular Joe
True, his many body modifications more often than not make him stand out from the crowd. All the same, the 22-year-old says that, tattoos, piercings and holes in his face aside, he's a regular Joe.
He has friends, he goes out every now and again, and these days, he's dating an artist. Contrary to what some might assume, he can eat and drink anything he wants. He just has to be careful to sip his drinks and take small bites at lunchtime.
