It’s been years that we’ve been hearing rumors about supposed plans to make the next, post-Daniel Craig James Bond a black one for the first time ever in the history of the franchise. When these rumors started, they started around just one actor: the handsome and very talented Idris Elba.

It’s true, Daniel Craig is still bound to the franchise for a few more installments after this year’s “SPECTRE,” but it’s never too soon to speculate on who might replace him. Even Idris Elba would be thrilled if Idris Elba turned out to be that guy, as he admitted in several interviews.

He’s got Pierce Brosnan backing him up. The actor, who last starred on the big screen as the suave 007 in “Die Another Day” in 2002, tells the latest issue of Details Magazine that the Bond producers would probably “never allow a gay Bond to happen” in their lifetime.

This would make for “interesting viewing” and he would certainly tune in, but it’s probably safe not to expect Bond to go for this type of diversity anytime soon. However, a black Bond is more likely.

“Let's start with a great black actor being James Bond,” Brosnan says. “Idris Elba certainly has the physicality, the charisma, the presence. But I think Daniel [Craig] will be there for a while yet.”

In the same interview, Brosnan admits to passing on Tim Burton’s offer to play Batman because he imagined such a silly character, who wears his underwear over tights, would never be too successful. Yup, that was the way superhero characters were seen back in the day.
