14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft isn’t planning to release other Lumia devices this year, but the company has expressed its commitment to supporting the ecosystem in the future, so it’s working together with other OEMs to bring Windows 10 Mobile devices to the market.
One such example is HP, who has already announced the Elite X3 “superphone” earlier this year, with the release expected to take place in the coming months.
The Elite X3 is powered by Windows 10 Mobile and is a monster in all regards, coming with a powerful processor and features that could easily rival those of high-end Android and iOS phones.
This is exactly the purpose of the new video, with Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices team, talking about the device and explaining how Microsoft and HP worked together to make the Elite X3 possible.
HP Elite X3 hardware specifications
HP took the wraps off the Elite X3 earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress, but the company is yet to provide us with a release date, although it’s very clear that users in the Windows community are very eager to get their hands on one.
The device ships with a 5.96-inch display and comes with the latest in hardware specs, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage.
Obviously, it also comes with support for Continuum, Microsoft’s flagship feature that makes it possible to connect a phone to an external screen with the Display Adapter and have the device double as a PC. Thanks to Continuum, Windows 10 Mobile can adapt to different screen sizes, so the phone’s Start screen becomes the Start menu on the larger display.
The HP Elite X3 is expected to debut later this summer or maybe in the fall, as the company most likely waits for Microsoft to release the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update that will bring so many improvements on all devices.
