The ceramic material doesn't help either

Nothing can be more disturbing than dropping your newly bought smartphone, especially if it's a concept device that might only be manufactured in limited quantities. The phone that was supposed to revolutionize the smartphone industry, Xiaomi's Mi Mix won't be released in other countries than China.

However, Chinese customers will surely be able to purchase one when the phablet is made available in the Mainland. The most expensive Xiaomi Mi Mix version will cost $590, far less than any other flagship smartphone available on the market.

Although the phablet should go on sale in China on November 4, it looks like someone in the country received the Mi Mix ahead of schedule and has already … dropped it. A drop on concrete can be devastating for such a phone that features a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio.

To make things even worse, Xiaomi Mi Mix uses ceramic for the most part, a material that's not really meant to resist drops. The very thin bezels and the ceramic material are some of the aspects that customers should take into consideration before buying such a unique device.

One Xiaomi Mi Mix owner dropped the smartphone on the pavement and the results can be seen in the picture. The screen was slightly shattered and the frame of the phone is completely broken where it first made contact with the hard surface.

It's unclear whether or not the Mi Mix still functioned properly after being dropped, but it's pretty clear that the phablet is not protected against such fortuitous events.

So, if you plan on getting a Mi Mix phablet, even though it will probably be very hard to find, please keep in mind that you'll have to take great care not to slip it from your hand. Otherwise, there's a high chance that you'll shatter the edge-to-edge display.
