Denmark users seem to love Windows 10, stats show

Windows 10 adoption has slowed down worldwide, according to third-party market share stats, but there are a few countries where the new operating system performs impressively well.

Scandinavian markets have always been among the first to adopt new software, and in Windows 10’s case, they make no exception to this rule, so if we look at OS share stats in Denmark, for instance, this thing becomes obvious.

Global market share stats for Windows 10 put the new operating system on the fifth position after Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows XP, and Mac OS X, but StatCounter claims that, in this country, things are completely different.

Not only did Windows 10 manage to overtake Mac OS X, but it also surpassed both Windows XP and Windows 8.1, which means it’s now the second most-used desktop OS in the country and ready to hunt down Windows 7.

1 in 5 PCs in Denmark running Windows 10

Windows 7 continues to be the number one desktop operating system in the country, with a share of 37.78 percent, now followed by Windows 10 with 19.29 percent. Mac OS X is third with 18.46 percent while Windows 8.1 is next with 16.49 percent.

All the other OS versions are far behind, with Windows XP now powering only 1.55 percent of the desktop PCs in Denmark.

Obviously, Microsoft must be very pleased that adoption of Windows 10 is going so well in these markets, but there’s no doubt that the company expects the very same figures in all countries across the globe. 1 billion devices should be upgraded to Windows 10 by the end of 2016, so if Microsoft’s plan is successful, the market share of Windows 7 should also collapse in the next few months.

Keep in mind, however, that these statistics are collected based on ad impressions, so they might not be entirely accurate, but they’re still a good indication of how adoption goes in some markets.
