Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 will take on Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL with its incorporated Samsung Bixby virtual assistant. Some information about the new AI virtual assistant has already surfaced online and it seems that a trademark application has revealed its logo.

Samsung filed a trademark application with the European Trademark and Design Network, showcasing the logo for the upcoming Bixby AI assistant. The application carries the number 016343931, according to SamMobile.

The logo appears to resemble the alphabet letter B, as well as the number 8, although we’re leaning towards the B letter considering that the left side of the symbol is straight, while the right side is comprised of two curved shapes.

Description that matches Bixby features

In addition, the description for the latest trademark application is similar to that of Bixby’s trademark filling, saying that it will represent smartphones, mobile telephones, interactive computer software enabling exchange of information, and so on. The application was filed yesterday.

Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant is expected to be featured on the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, set to be announced on March 29 and made available for purchase in mid-April.

Bixby will be competing against Google Assistant, the former is rumored to support many more languages than Google’s virtual AI. Bixby will support voice commands in English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese Latin, Spanish and Spanish Latin languages.

Bixby is also said to make use of the rear camera on Galaxy S8 phones to allow users to point the camera to various objects and perform custom searches online. Samsung trademarked the Samsung Hello a few days ago, said to be taking on Google Now. Hello would work in conjunction with Bixby to provide personalized features and information based on user’s preferences in fields of weather, music, social news via voice commands.
