If you wanted to find a reason for the difference in price between Apple's new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus smartphones, the new optical video stabilization capability of the 6s Plus camera is a good one.

While everyone has been talking about the 3D Touch features of the displays used by Apple for the new models in their latest iPhone models, 6s Plus' new iSight camera hasn't got a lot of attention even though it might just explain why the flagship iPhone costs more than its smaller counterpart, the 6s.

Besides adding software video stabilization for time-lapse video recordings, a worth-mentioning feature itself for iPhone owners who will be using it frequently, the iPhone 6s Plus camera also comes with an optical video stabilization feature that will make it possible to record smooth-looking footage even if your hands are not that steady.

A video sample of what an optically stabilized movie recorded with an iPhone 6s Plus would look like is available in the iPhone 6s Gallery on Apple's website, but we will also embed it at the end of the article so that you can get a small taste of what the new iSight Camera in the 6s Plus is capable of.

The optical video stabilization drastically improves the quality of videos recorded using the new iPhone 6s Plus

Optical video stabilization is designed to help artists and enthusiasts to record smoother movies by compensating for vibration and shaking during the recording process in real time. This is done at a hardware level by moving the sensor during the recording or by using a floating lens element.

Although Apple has not made it clear anywhere on their website or in a statement, the important thing is that, from now on, if you own an iPhone 6s, your videos will look a lot smoother, and you won't need an extra application to stabilize the resulting footage.

Moreover, history appears to repeat itself in Apple's case, since in the previous iPhone line iteration, the iPhone 6 Plus, came with optical image stabilization, while its smaller counterpart, the iPhone 6, did not. Only Apple knows if this is another way to justify the price difference between the standard and the Plus iPhone models, apart from the screen size and the battery life.

The iPhone 6s Plus can be pre-ordered on Apple's online store, for prices starting at $749 for the 16 GB model and $949 for the 128 GB one.
