The development team at Ubisoft is announcing that it will launch a special New York Collapse survival field guide linked to The Division on March 8 of next year, in order to give gamers clear hints about the best ways to deal with the situation they find themselves in at the start of the MMO.

The book is designed to offer a look at the lore of the new title and features the reporting of a lone survivor who investigates the cause of the apocalyptic events that take place around him and tries to find the best way to secure resources and deal with outsiders.

New York Collapse is written by Alex Irvine and can be pre-ordered from Amazon, Chronicle Books and Barnes & Noble.

David Polfeldt, managing director at Ubisoft Massive, is quoted in the official announcement as saying that "The consequence of a pandemic on society is an interesting subject. Not only does New York Collapse explore the topic of urban survival with real tips and advice, ranging from basic survival needs to catching edible game in city parks, it will also reveal enlightening information and key secrets about The Division."

The company is not saying whether it also plans to offer a digital version of New York Survival.

The Division will offer a mix of shooter and MMO

The game will take place after a virulent disease spread during Black Friday has killed a significant portion of the population of the United States and has crippled the infrastructure and services.

Gamers are agents of the shadowy Division who are activated to deal with the consequences, needing to explore the city and to secure resources and equipment.

The core action in the game will be centered on the struggle against the player and the environment, but the development team is also introducing special zones where teams of gamers will compete for unique rewards, with clear mechanics that allow one member to betray the others and try to secure all the loot for themselves.

The Division can be played on the PC, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One and has been delayed a few times in order to make sure that it offers the quality that gamers are expecting when it appears.
