14 DAY TRIAL // Emerging markets like India and China are well known for its cheap Android handsets, but even there you can't find smartphones priced at less than $10.
US-based retailer Walmart has done the unthinkable and added the cheapest Android smartphone known to date, to its portfolio.
The Lucky LG16 is now listed at Walmart for a price of $9.82. The only problem is that it's out of stock for the moment, probably due to the high demand.
We're not sure whether or not Walmart is heavily subsidizing this device, but it's not the first time the retailer sells such cheap smartphones. The Sunrise LG15 was on sale at Walmart a while ago.
These TracFone LG handsets sell as prepaid, so there are no strings attached. Since the Lucky LG16 is now out of stock, you can register your email address to get in-stock alerts when the phone becomes available once again.

Obviously, you shouldn't have too many expectations from the Lucky LG16, but we reckon it does better spec-wise than many other smartphones in emerging markets that are priced much higher.
For example, the TracFone handset comes preloaded with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box.
The phone sports a small 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display and includes a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. At the back, there's a 3-megapixel photo snapper that lacks autofocus and LED flash but offers video recording.
There's no mention of storage, but Walmart claims Lucky LG16 includes a microSD card of 4GB, which should provide users with some storage to start with.
There's no front camera included, but the smartphone comes with 3G support, which is quite decent. The LG phone offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB 2.0 connectivity options as well.
Last but not least, the phone battery is rated by Walmart for up to 10 days of standby time or up to 7 hours of talk time.
