AV-TEST research shows the best Windows 10 security apps

Just like its predecessor, Windows 10 comes with Windows Defender pre-installed, but also with new security technologies, so it’s ready to block the majority of threats and malware that might reach your data.

And yet, we all know that, in some cases, this is just not enough, so third-party protection might be needed, especially if you’re not the kind of user who double-checks every link they click.

The German institute AV-TEST has recently conducted new research to determine the best antivirus solution for Windows 10 corporate users, and the results aren’t surprising at all.

Kaspersky Antivirus has once again topped the charts, obtaining the maximum number of points in every single test performed by the German institute. Kaspersky has thus received 6 points for protection, performance, and usability, so it has taken the leading spot quite easily.

Microsoft performance

Trend Micro is the runner-up with 6 points for protection, 5.5 points for performance, and 6 points for usability, and Bitdefender got the exact same score. Symantec was next on the fourth place with 6 points, 5.5 points, and 5.5 points, respectively, followed by Sophos, McAfee, and F-Secure.

Microsoft recorded a satisfying score, with 4.5 points for protection and performance, and 6 for usability, but it’s very clear that it’s not as effective as Kaspersky’s solutions. At least not when it comes to blocking malware, that is.

Certainly, keeping a Windows 10 computer protected is a difficult thing to do, especially for corporate users who are often targeted via emails or websites specifically compromised to take advantage of certain unpatched software vulnerabilities.

So as a general precaution, it’s better not to click any links coming from unknown sources or download attachments that you think could pose a threat to your PC. This is the best way to stay safe these days, so check twice every link or attachment you get, and you’ll be fine.
