TCL is expected to unveil a new and exciting BlackBerry device during the Consumer Electronics Show this year, to be held in Las Vegas. President and General Manager for TCL Communication North America Steve Cistulli has just released a video teaser of the upcoming phone.

To raise hype around the TCL announcement, the Executive posted a 4-second-long video on Twitter, showing off the QWERTY keyboard on the upcoming BlackBerry Mercury phone. The video doesn’t show much about the smartphone, but it’s enough to get us all excited about the unveiling.

Steve Cistulli’s post says the phone will come with an impressive design, that’s “distinctly different” compared to other smartphones on the market. We agree, considering that the QWERTY keyboard is one of the elements that make BlackBerry phones stand out on the market.

BlackBerry Mercury might have a 4.5-inch display

TCL will be holding an event during CES this week, during which it will surely present the new BlackBerry Mercury. TCL and BlackBerry signed a licensing agreement which stated that TCL would design, manufacture, promote, distribute and sell phones, while BlackBerry would focus on software and services.

BlackBerry Mercury will feature a QWERTY keyboard and the phone is rumored to come with a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with 1620 x 1080 pixel resolution and a 3,400mAh battery. It would run an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. Moreover, the smartphone is said to have a fingerprint scanner and run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

There are no details on the phone’s name, Mercury is simply its codename, just like Argon was the code for DTEK60. We presume that the Mercury would be called the DTEK70, but that’s just speculation at this point. BlackBerry Mercury is said to be made available at Verizon, but that remains to be seen.
