Taylor Swift has been on the road with the 1989 Tour for many months now and it helped her cement her reputation as one of the world’s most popular female entertainers. Fans will have to get used to the idea that she will be going away for a while once said Tour wraps.

The news comes straight from Taylor, in a new interview with NME Magazine. She’s a bit overexposed and she knows it, but she’s also very tired because of the grueling routine she’s been keeping up. A break is needed.

Time off and lessons learned

On the topic, Taylor says, “I think I should take some time off. People might need a break from me. I’m going to hang out with friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

Even if she continues writing and recording new music, she will not be making public appearances and she will not have to perform for thousands on a regular basis. All entertainers take some sort of break once they’re done touring, because the demands on the road tend to be exhausting, so no one will blame Taylor if she did the same.

She also talks to NME about her highly publicized Twitter spat with Nicki Minaj, which started when she thought the rapper was dissing her while complaining about not having her “Anaconda” video nominated for Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards 2015.

Instead of reaching out to Nicki privately to settle things, Taylor responded on Twitter, showing what the media dubbed how her “white feminism” works. She eventually apologized to Nicki and they called a truce - and even performed together at the VMAs gala.

There was a lesson learned there, she explains: she will always go out of her way to avoid such misunderstandings in the future, by making sure to contact directly the people she wants to talk to.

Taylor isn’t exactly going nowhere

The 1989 Tour ends on December 12 in Melbourne, so based on what Taylor said, it’s safe to assume she will be taking the so-called break starting with 2016.

However, fans will hardly have a chance to miss her properly, because even if she won’t be recording and releasing new music, she will still be a fixture in the tabloids, as ever.

Taylor’s personal life is of as much interest as her musical releases, which means that she’s always in the glossies and present in the blogosphere, if only with unconfirmed rumors. Her romance with DJ Calvin Harris is still going strong, so that alone should keep her in the headlines after she goes on a musical hiatus.
