The Tanglu development team, through Matthias Klumpp, has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the first RC (Release Candidate) version of the forthcoming Tanglu 3 GNU/Linux operating system based on Debian 8 "Jessie."

Dubbed Chromodoris willani, Tanglu 3 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is distributed in the typical editions, as Tanglu KDE, Tanglu GNOME, and Tanglu Core. According to the release notes, it includes all the latest GNU/Linux technologies and applications that have been released since the Beta version.

Derived from the latest Debian GNU/Linux 8 (Jessie) operating system, Tanglu 3 Release Candidate 1 is powered by Linux kernel 4.0, and updates some of the packages of the GNOME 3.16 desktop environment (for the Tanglu GNOME edition) and the modern KDE Plasma 5.3 desktop environment (for the Tanglu KDE edition).

"We are pleased to announce the release of the first release candidate (RC) of Tanglu 3, which includes Tanglu-KDE, Tanglu-GNOME and Tanglu Core," says Matthias Klumpp. "The RC release contains all changes from the previous Beta release, and some updated GNOME and KDE packages, as well as many bugfixes."

It includes systemd 221 and Calamares 1.1

In addition to the new features mentioned above, the first Release Candidate (RC) version of the upcoming Tanglu 3 Linux operating system uses the systemd 221 init system and the Calamares 1.1 universal installer, which has a significant amount of new and attractive features.

Those of you who want to test the Release Candidate version of Tanglu 3 can download the Tanglu GNOME 3 RC1 and Tanglu KDE 3 RC1 editions right now via Softpedia or directly from the distribution's official website. However, being a pre-release version, we do not recommend it for production environments.

Also, we recommend reading the official release notes if you plan on contributing to the development of Tanglu, as the team is always looking for people who want to help and report bugs or add new features to the distribution.
