14 DAY TRIAL // TAG Heuer, the Swiss watchmaker has just teased a new announcement for March 14. The teaser comes in line with previous reports claiming the company will launch a new smartwatch specifically on this date.
The tweet announcing its plans to unveil a new device says that we should stay tuned for a March 14 reveal. Also, the image hints to a new smartwatch, hence confirming the previous rumors.
The Swiss company is expected to introduce the successor to the TAG Heuer Connected, a not-so-cheap smartwatch that sold very well last year. As previously reported, the new smartwatch will be launched on the market as TAG Connected Modular.
Although the smartwatch will be unveiled next week, customers will be able to purchase it starting May, if we are to believe rumors dating back from February.
Still, TAG Heuer is certainly expected to use the Android Wear 2.0 operating system for its upcoming smartwatch. From what we've been able to gather in the last couple of weeks, the TAG Connected Modular is a hybrid smartwatch that comes with customizable lugs, as well as straps and clasps.
Furthermore, sources familiar with TAG Heuer's plans claim the new hybrid smartwatch will offer users the option to switch between a digital connected Android Wear 2.0 and a more standard automatic movement. This can be done thanks to the custom automatic watch head module that comes inside the TAG Connected Modular smartwatch.
We have no information about the upcoming wearable device, but considering the TAG Heuer Connected costs around €1500, we doubt its successor will be much cheaper.
TAG Heuer might consider launching a couple of variations of its new Connected Modular smartwatch, so prices may vary.
