T-Mobile has started rolling out the stable Android 7.0 Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones that already ran the beta version. The update weighs in at a little under 117MB and includes the latest February 1 security patch, according to Android Police.

Users who didn’t participate in the beta program will get a larger OTA, and February 24 is the date for the general rollout to smartphones that are still on Marshmallow. T-Mobile has yet to update its official page for the S7 edge to reflect the new software update, it will likely do so soon after regular users start receiving the update. For now, the software update is only available over-the-air.

T-Mobile is currently the first US carrier to start rolling out the stable Android 7.0 Nougat to Samsung’s S7 devices; AT&T did recently say that their customers would receive the update in a couple of months. Sprint and Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones will most likely follow.

Galaxy S6 phones will be next to receive the update

Samsung said last month that the 7.0 Nougat update would also be provided to Galaxy S6 phones, Note 5 units, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy S2, Galaxy A3 and A8. However, some time might pass until Samsung and carriers start rolling out the Nougat update to Galaxy S6 phones, considering that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge were priorities.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update is expected to bring many improvements to Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones, including faster download speeds and system software updates, as well as direct reply and a redesigned Quick Panel.

The update will bring multi window support and an abundance of performance modes for enhancing battery life and redirecting resources for important processes when battery is low. In addition, Nougat will offer improved settings menu and Always On Display feature.
