SwiftKey, one of the most popular Android keyboards, is back with yet another application for Android devices. Once again, developers have decided to bring Android users another keyboard application meant to improve texting on smartphones even further.

The new application is called SwiftKey Neural and it's still in alpha stage, which means developers need users to test it and offer their feedback.

The good news is anyone with a compatible Android device will be able to download the application for free since it's been listed on Google Play Store.

But what's so special about this SwiftKey Neural application? According to the developers, this is the world's first smartphone keyboard software that uses artificial neural networks to predict and correct what the user is typing.

For the time being, the keyboard supports only the English (US) language, but once the application reaches the final build, there might be additional languages supported.

An app that could understand complex word relationship

How is it working though? Well, it looks like this experimental app takes advantage of neural nets to provide users with smarter and more meaningful suggestions in the context of what they are writing at any given time.

Developers also state that “its underlying word prediction technology is based on the use of neural networks, a subfield of artificial intelligence inspired by the structure and operation of the human brain.”

This sounds quite impressive, and if SwiftKey manages to make the application as intended, it would be a real breakthrough in this area.

Anyway, you can now download SwiftKey Neural Alpha for Android for free via Google Play store. The application has been fully optimized to work on all devices powered by Android 4.4 and up.

Keep in mind that this is an alpha version of the application, so you will most likely find issues and features that don't work as intended, which you are supposed to report to developers in order to be fixed.
