Nintendo released Super Mario Run for iOS last year in December, but announced that the version for Android would come much later, in March this year. As scheduled, Nintendo made Super Mario Run available for Android smartphones.

Super Mario Run works on smartphones running Android 4.2 and up. The Android version features the same pricing as the iOS release and users can freely try it, but if they wish to play the whole game, they need to make a one-time purchase of $9.99.

The Android version seems to be identical to Super Mario Run on iOS, containing multiple modes, while only three are available before purchase: World Tour, Toad Rally and Kingdom Builder. After making the purchase, users will be able to play 24 courses over all 6 worlds and get access to many playable characters. The game requires Internet connectivity to play and data charges may apply.

Super Mario Run is a success on iOS

The release on Android comes about three months after Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s first smartphone game, was launched on iOS. The game became very popular among iPhone users, as it saw 40 million downloads during the first four days since it was released and became the fastest-selling iOS game in the history of the App Store.

The 2.0 version of Super Mario Run is currently available both on Android and iOS, after the latter received a major update with new playable characters, new buildings and an enhanced tutorial to show users how to play the game.

Nintendo brought iOS Super Mario Run users the option to select Easy Mode before starting a curse and make adjustments to appearance rates of different colored Toads in Toad Rally. Rally Tickets in the Bonus Game House can be grabbed much more easily and developers made a larger part of the game free to play.

You can download the Super Mario Run APK from Softpedia.
