Love it or hate it, but you can't deny Twitter's power. The social network may be a nightmare to navigate, but it's still a solid source to get new traffic and exposure for your products.

A study by Buffer, the service that lets users share links across multiple social media accounts, reveals what the most recommended times of day for sharing your tweets are.

Having analyzed over 4.8 million tweets sent out across 10,000 Twitter profiles during a 5-year period, Buffer's study managed to include the most vast data pool ever used for such reports.

According to their findings, most tweets are usually sent out during the day, with the busiest period being between 12:00 and 13:00, while the least tweets were recorded during 3:00 and 4:00.

So what's the best time to tweet?

Apparently, the best time to tweet depends on what you want to get out of the service. So if you want more clicks, then it's the early mornings, but if you want more retweets, replies or favorites, then it's the late evenings and the night time.

Most users tend to click on links in tweets sent out in the morning, which already in their timeline when they are on the bus or arrive at work, with the most clicks coming for tweets sent out between 2:00 and 3:00.

The fewest clicks come for tweets sent out between 9:00 and 13:00, but this can be explained by the high volume of tweets sent out during that period, most timelines being watered down with lots and lots of stories.

The data was fragmented across 10 different timezones in the graphs below, but the results are clear. In most regions of the globe, the early part of the day is when users take time from their schedule to click on tweets.

The nights are for engaging on Twitter

On the opposite side, once people get off work, then they are more willing to enter into banter on Twitter, replying to other tweets, retweeting them, or even adding them to their favorites, so they can read them later on.

The highest amount of engagement with tweets occurs between 23:00 and 5:00, with tweets sent out between 2:00 and 3:00 being the most interacted with.

This seems to be a worldwide trend regardless of timezone, and we fully support this later finding with our own experience, because we many times woke up to find our phone full with retweet and favorites notifications from Twitter many, many times in the past.
