The whole debacle surrounding the Street Fighter V beta stage has reached a new stage, as Capcom confirms that it's taken the test phase offline indefinitely and that more beta periods are going to take place in the future. Those who managed to participate and those who didn't get a chance will be rewarded in certain ways.

Street Fighter V was revealed to the world earlier this year, and at E3 2015 last month, Capcom promised a 2016 debut for the fighting game, not to mention several beta stages ahead of that period.

The first test phase was set to take place last weekend all around the world, but issues started plaguing the online beta as soon as it went live, forcing Capcom to limit it to North America and then take it offline for extended periods of maintenance.

Street Fighter V will get more betas and rewards for fans

Now, Capcom confirms on its Unity blog that this current phase is over and that it's learned quite a lot of things after the tests. However, it also emphasizes that more beta periods are going to be organized ahead of launch and that rewards are coming to those who managed to get into this first phase as well as those who weren't able to do so.

"Capcom offers its sincerest apologies to everyone who participated in this first beta test. While the purpose of a beta is to work out these type of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for. Additionally, we are working on a worthwhile in-game incentive for the players that participated in the first beta test. We will still be providing players [outside North America] with an incentive as well, as all territories were inconvenienced."

The Japanese company apologizes for the various issues suffered by the fighting game and explains that, while it certainly made progress over the weekend during the maintenance periods, a lot more time would've been needed to get it operational once more.

As such, it's decided to take its time, perfect the beta version, and then allow fans back into it on PS4.
