14 DAY TRIAL // If you’re one of the many Windows 7 users who are considering the free upgrade to Windows 10 but are not entirely sure that it is worth it, there’s an app that promises to make your desktop look just like the one available in the new operating system.
In other words, you can get some of the features integrated in Windows 10 without actually installing the new OS, obviously with some little differences here and there, but it’s still a good way to make your desktop look fresh in a few minutes.
Modern desktop, modern feel
The so-called Windows 10 Transformation Pack does just that, transforming your Windows desktop and giving it a modern touch to look like the one in Windows 10.
Version 5.0 also includes a number of other improvements, including updated Windows 10 RTM wallpapers, Windows branding, and Start menu with the help of Start Menu Reviver 3.0.0.14. The Start menu color scheme now matches the one in Windows 10 RTM, while Resource Hacker has also been updated to version 4.2.4.
Basically, this application includes the official Windows 10 wallpapers, as well as some other tools and applications, all created by third-party developers, which tweak the desktop to give you the Windows 10 feel.
Needless to say, the experience you’ll get won’t be 100 percent like the one in Windows 10, and because several third-party apps will be used to overhaul the desktop, somewhat impacted system performance is expected (the faster your computer, the better the experience you’ll get).
Also, make sure that, before installing this app, you create a backup or restore point because sometimes, when trying to remove it, some features of the operating system, such as the fonts or icons, could be messed up, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. If you’re OK with all of these, just give it a try and see if it’s really worth it.
