Microsoft is hard at work to replace Internet Explorer with Edge in Windows 10 in an attempt to become a stronger rival to Google and Mozilla in the browser industry, but stats show that the Redmond-based tech giant might not stand a single chance against its competitors.

At least, not in India, where the market is clearly dominated by Google Chrome, according to data provided for the month of June 2015 by market research firm StatCounter.

Right now, Google's browser has a market share of more than 66 percent in India, which means that more than 1 in 2 Indians are using Chrome to browse the website.

Mozilla Firefox is second with 22.36 percent, followed by Internet Explorer with 7.84 percent. Opera is also in the top five with 2.11 percent, but way behind Chrome and Firefox.

Microsoft Edge coming in less than a month

With Google Chrome clearly dominating the Indian browser market, does Microsoft have a chance with Edge to compete against Google and Mozilla?

The software giant says it does, as Edge is a browser built from the ground up with features that make it a perfect replacement not only for the old Internet Explorer but also for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.

And what's more, later this year, Microsoft Edge will receive even more features that will allow it to work with Chrome extensions if developers make some subtle code changes for 100 percent compatibility. This feature is projected to arrive in Edge with the first Windows 10 update scheduled for late 2015.

So we're asking you: are you really using Google Chrome as your main browser? Is any of you (still) using Internet Explorer and planning to switch to Microsoft Edge when it becomes available? What are the chances for Edge to compete against Chrome and Firefox?
