The company will offer more details about maps soon

Star Wars: Battlefront might draw its content from the first three movies in the universe, but it seems that the development team at DICE does not have plans to feature the iconic Death Star in any way on the included maps.

The studio has already explained why there are no plans to introduce space-based maps or battles that take place outside the atmosphere.

In a Reddit thread, a representative of DICE explains that more details about the kinds of maps that will be included in Star Wars: Battlefront will be delivered soon.

The Death Star is one of the most famous sights and the place where Luke Skywalker shows his power as a Jedi when he manages to deliver the shots that destroy it.

Unfortunately, it would be hard for the development team to create a situation in which Rebel infantry invades the space station to battle the Imperial forces that man it.

The Star Destroyers, the very powerful space craft of the Empire, will be featured in Star Wars: Battlefront, but they cannot be reached by player weaponry.

DICE states, "Yes you will see them within maps, but you can’t physically shoot them down. But the progression of how you’re playing will influence the Battles beyond the players’ battle."

More Star Wars: Battlefront will be offered during the alpha stage

A small number of players will be able to start playing the new shooter on July 2 as part of an alpha stage that will take place only on the PC.

DICE and Electronic Arts have not said how many fans will be invited and what elements of the experience will be tweaked based on their feedback and the data gathered from the matches they play.

Star Wars: Battlefront will be out on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4 on November 17.

Electronic Arts plans to link the game to the launch of the coming The Force Awakens movie on December 1, when it will deliver the Battle of Jakku downloadable content package to all those who have placed a pre-order.

The rest of the community will get access to the same experience one week later, and DICE has said that it plans to continue to deliver more content for the shooter in the coming months, while also working on updates to improve the overall balance.
