DICE aims to make the Heroes and Villains that gamers can turn to one of the core features of the coming Star Wars: Battlefront, but so far gamers have only had details about Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett.

Now a new article on the PS Blog features Jamie Keen, the lead hero designer working at the studio, offering information on a trio of other important characters from the universe of the shooter: Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Emperor Palpatine.

Leia Organa is more focused on strategic thinking than straight up action, with the developers trying to make sure that they show her ability to think her way out of a situation rather than simply rush into action.

In Star Wars Battlefront the character will be focused on support action, allowing team members to perform better.

All those spawning on Leia will become Alderaan Honor Guards and she will also be able to take out enemy grunts with the Trooper Bane power.

The character can also use an Enhanced Squad Shield, which is a strong defensive move, and Supply Drop, which offers other players access to powers-ups.

Han Solo can shoot first in Battlefront

Han Solo is one of the most loved characters in the Star Wars franchise and DICE adds, "He’s such a likable character, and turning his unique persona into gameplay features is a thrill when you’re a Star Wars fan. We’ve also witnessed the love for this character in our playtests. Han’s sardonic lines and emotes seem to put a smile on everyone’s face."

The team wants to make him easy to play and that means mobility and solid attacks are his main characteristics.

Rapid Fire will allow gamers to use their weapon without overheating it, Lucky Shot can take out vehicles and will annoy even Darth Vader and Shoulder Charge gives him extra options when it comes to getting into or out of combat.

Emperor Palpatine is one of the most powerful villains in Star Wars, but his outward appearance is that of a frail man and DICE is eager to capture his presence in Battlefront.

He will be able to use a classic Forge Lightning, which does a lot of damage to enemy forces, and a chain version that moves across the battlefield and can support an offensive move.

Force Dash is also available for Emperor Palpatine, giving him an option to move fast in one direction to surprise enemy groups.

The character can also deal out power-ups for his allies, which makes him useful in a support role.

DICE has not said exactly how many Heroes and Villains will be featured in Star Wars Battlefront.

The development team will offer more details about the game before the November 17 launch date.

The game is coming to the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC.

Gamers who place a pre-order will get a Battle of Jakku free downloadable content pack on December 1, which is linked to The Force Awakens movie, while the rest of the players will be able to play it one week later.
