Video game developer DICE has pledged that it will include unrivaled levels of attention to detail in the coming Star Wars Battlefront, and the studio is ready to offer more details about the sound design for the shooter and the efforts that various team members have made to stay close to the essence of the universe.

Star Wars sound design legends Ben Burtt and Matt Wood were involved in the process, according to a new official site article, and the company had access to the original LucasFilm sounds and other assets.

DICE explains that "Whilst at Skywalker Ranch, the sound team also recorded Foley sessions with Dennie Thorpe and Jana Vance, to capture audio source material for all the movement and surface interactions in the game, as well as blaster Foley, capes, and other bespoke recordings that goes to make up the unique Star Wars sounds."

Ben Minto, the audio director, also went into the woods in order to capture unique sounds for Star Wars Battlefront and offers more details on the thinking behind the idea and how he implemented it.

He also explains how colors can be used to describe the unique character of the included planets and how real-world sounds can be used as the base on which unique Endor or Hoth soundscapes can be built.

Star Wars Battlefront will be accessible while offering depth

Some fans of the series have complained that the core game mechanics will be too simple, with DICE trying to attract a wide audience by keeping the game as easy to understand as possible.

But the development info the studio is offering seems to suggest that they are interested in keeping Star Wars Battlefront as close as possible to the movies on which it is based while delivering the maximum amount of immersion.

So far, the company has talked about Survival, which will involve Rebels battling enemy waves, and about Walker Assault.

More information about other game modes will be offered around the start of the Gamescom event.

Star Wars Battlefront is coming on November 17 on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, and on December 1 gamers who have placed a pre-order will get a free Battle of Jakku DLC, linked to The Force Awakens, while the rest of the community will only access it on December 8.
