The development team at DICE is announcing that it will run a double experience weekend starting on February 12 to reward the player base for their solid performance in the most recent community mission.

The boost will be live starting on February 12 and will remain active all through Valentine's Day, allowing gamers to boost their characters and try to reach level 50 or help a friend to do the same.

The double experience bonus and the solid performance of the player base in the challenge is a good sign that plenty of gamers are still playing Star Wars Battlefront, despite the fact that some have criticized the main mechanics for being a little shallow.

DICE is also announcing that on February 16 it will launch a new Community Mission for Star Wars Battlefront, and it seems that gamers will be asked to deliver solid performances using Princess Leia during battles.

The studio is also offering more details about the development process for Star Wars Battlefront, explaining on the official site how it has tried to make sure that the sound design for the thermal imploder and the shields is as realistic as possible.

DICE was able to work with the original sounds of the movies and has unprecedented access to Disney to deliver a solid level of authenticity for its multiplayer-focused shooter, both for weapons and items that fans are familiar with and for more obscure ones.

Star Wars Battlefront plans to deliver both free and paid content in the coming months

DICE is using the newly introduced private matches and community events to keep gamers interested in the shooter in the long-term, and there are free updates planned for both February and March that will expand the types of experiences associated with the various maps and will introduce more skins for heroes.

Starting in March, the studio is also planning to launch the first paid downloadable content pack for Star Wars Battlefront that will give them a chance to travel to the Outer Rim and engage in battle both in the palace of Jabba the Hut and in a new location on Sulluth.

Bespin is being introduced to the shooter at some point in the summer, offering gamers access to maps linked to Cloud City, and before the end of 2016 players will also be able to explore maps based on the Death Star.

There's another unnamed content pack planned for Star Wars Battlefront, all of them covered by the Season Pass, and the community should also get access to eight new heroes and villains to play as.

Electronic Arts has made it clear that it plans to create more titles in the series, some of which might feature content associated with the new The Force Awakens, although that will probably only happen next year.

The company also had a long-term deal with Disney that allows BioWare to create a title based on Star Wars that might be revealed in the coming months, with a team led by Amy Hennig working on another project that might feature elements linked to the canceled 1313.
