The US carrier is working with Samsung on the matter

Samsung is still recovering from the recall of its Galaxy Note 7 flagship and it seems that the company just can’t catch a break. A replaced Galaxy Note 7 smartphone caught fire on an airplane recently, causing the plane’s evacuation and the flight’s cancellation.

This happened just a few days ago, and since then, things have started to go downhill for Samsung. Royal Mail reportedly refuses to ship Galaxy Note 7 units and there have been some reports indicating that Samsung could launch a second recall of the Galaxy Note 7. Meanwhile, the CPSC is investigating the plane incident, while the Galaxy Note 7 continues to be on sale in several countries.

A new report by Recode shows that US mobile carrier Sprint is currently in talks with Samsung for creating an exchange program for the replaced Galaxy Note 7 units. Sprint customers might be able to exchange their previously replaced Galaxy Note 7 smartphones for any phone in a Sprint store.

Sprint will let customers swap replaced Note 7 units until CPSC ends its investigation

This can be done until CPSC completes its investigation. T-Mobile is also offering customers the opportunity to use its remorse program to exchange or return the Galaxy Note 7 within 14 days after purchasing it. AT&T and Verizon have yet to disclose if they have any such plans for Note 7 owners of replaced units.

Sprint has yet to make an official announcement on the matter, but this is certainly not good news for Samsung. Depending on CPSC’s results of the investigation, Samsung could start a second recall of the Note 7, just when sales finally started to resume.

Anyway, consumers will surely lose some of their confidence in Samsung products following this latest incident. Still, Samsung recently announced that it recorded satisfactory financial earnings in Q3, despite the Note 7 recall. The company will post the final financial results for the third quarter this month, while the Note 7 recall will surely affect results for Q4 as well.
