14 DAY TRIAL // During this year’s CES event in January, Lenovo announced that it signed a partnership with Google on developing a Project Tango phone. Since then, Lenovo has stated that the company will be unveiling the device during Tech World on June 9, just a few days from now.
Specs of the upcoming smartphone seem to have leaked online, with Evan Blass from @evleaks reporting that the device will come with a 6.4-inch QHD screen. This is in line with the official statements made during CES 2016, when Lenovo said that the Project Tango phone would have a screen smaller than 6.5 inches.
The technology allows devices to map the 3D space around users in real time and requires a number of cameras and sensors to do so.
Intel released the RealSense smartphone with Project Tango technology earlier this year, and it carried a 6.0-inch display, which means that Lenovo is betting on a larger screen to make its smartphone more attractive to users than the RealSense by Intel.
This is just speculation at this point, since Evan Blass hasn’t provided any other details on specs, but has mentioned that Lenovo’s Project Tango smartphone will be named Lenovo PHAB2 Pro.
Lenovo PHAB2 Pro will sell for the price of $500 (€439)
Pricing of the handset has yet to be confirmed, but it’s expected to fall somewhere under $500 (€439), considerably more expensive than RealSense’s price of just $400 (€351). RealSense Smartphone came with 2GB of RAM and Intel Gen 8 graphics.
It also featured an 8MP camera on the back and a 2MP one on the front. The depth camera was designed to capture data for 3D scanning of objects. Project Tango technology allows users to create 3D maps of indoor locations.
