Google is expected to release two new Nexus smartphones this year, in partnership with HTC. It seems that specs for one of the handsets, the Nexus Marlin, have just leaked online, revealing a complete list of features to be expected from the upcoming device.

HTC Nexus Marlin will incorporate a quad-core Qualcomm processor and a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, according to Android Police. At this point, it is unclear which processor model has been chosen for the phone. Still, rumor has it that the Nexus Marlin is likely to come with a Snapdragon 820, which is a quad-core 64-bit processor.

The smartphone will feature a USB-C port and have a 12MP rear camera, together with an 8MP one on the front.

HTC Nexus Marlin will come in two variants

Nexus Marlin should also have a fingerprint scanner on the back and guarantee 4GB of RAM. Internal storage could be either 32GB or 128GB, as some hearsay has indicated that HTC might not be releasing a variant with 64GB.

In addition, it is possible that Nexus Marlin will sport a 3,450mAh battery and come with dual bottom-firing speakers, as well as Bluetooth 4.2.

The specs of Nexus Sailfish leaked a few days ago, revealing that the smartphone would have a smaller display compared to Marlin, more exactly, a 5-inch 1080p screen with a pixel density of 440ppi. Moreover, battery capacity on the Sailfish could be lower, reaching only 2,770mAh.

Details on the pricing and the release date have yet to surface, but Google is set to reveal Android Nougat this fall, which means that it won't be long until the two Nexus smartphones see the light of day.

This is not the first time Google and HTC partner in order to create Nexus smartphones, as back in 2010, the latter was the manufacturer of the first Nexus One smartphone. HTC also produced the Nexus 9 tablet.
