Just a few minutes ago, on December 29, the developers of the Debian-based SparkyLinux operating system were more than proud to announce the release of the GameOver, Multimedia and Rescue editions for SparkyLinux 4.2.

We reported on the release of the SparkyLinux 4.2 operating system a week ago, when the project's devs announced the availability of the KDE, Xfce, LXQt, Enlightenment E20, MATE, LXDE, and Openbox flavors, but today they've released the rest of the editions.

The SparkyLinux 4.2 GameOver, Rescue and Multimedia editions are powered by Linux kernel 4.3, and feature many up-to-date applications and core components, among which we can mention GCC 5.3.1, APT 1.1.5, libc6 2.21, and Wine 1.8.

However, in this article, we'll talk about the SparkyLinux 4.2 GameOver Edition operating system, which features over 80 games, including the popular 0 A.D., Warzone2100, The Battle for Wesnoth, and Armagetronad, as well as the Desura for Linux and Steam for Linux gaming distribution platforms.

"There are three SparkyLinux 4.2 special editions available now: GameOver, Rescue and a brand new: Multimedia. This release is based on SparkyLinux 4.2 and is fully compatible with Debian testing 'Stretch,'" reads today's announcement.

Wine 1.8 and PlayOnLinux are pre-installed

Like any respectable gaming-oriented GNU/Linux distribution, SparkyLinux 4.2 GameOver Edition boasts the latest Wine and PlayOnLinux software for those who also want to play Windows games. Additionally, the operating system includes the Sparky APTus Gamer tool that lets users install many other apps.

To be more precise, Sparky APTus Gamer will help you install some of the most popular emulators, such as PPSSPP, AdvenceMENU, DOSBox, MAME, Mednafen, DeSmuME, Stella, VisualBoyAdvance, GNOME Video Arcade, PCSX, DOSEMU, Yabause, Hatari, FCEUX, ePSXe, Atari800, MESS, ZSNES, Higan, and Nestopia.

Download the SparkyLinux 4.2 GameOver Edition right now from Softpedia, where you'll find Live ISO images for both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware architectures. The operating system is built around the lightweight LXDE desktop environment.
