The IFA 2015 tradeshow will open its doors in the early days of September and Sony has already confirmed its presence at the event. What’s more, the company already teased a smartphone with a “greater focus,” which is believed to be the Xperia Z5.

Yesterday we told you that during IFA 2015, Sony might also unveil the Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium, the latter being the first smartphone to come boasting a 4K display.

Anyway, before Sony has the chance to unveil its next-gen flagship device, the folks over at Xperia Blog have managed to get hold of a few press photos showcasing the upcoming phone, giving us an idea of what to expect from it.

As it turns out, the pictures were briefly posted on Sony Mobile social media channel before they were swiftly removed. Still, someone managed to grab them and here they are for your viewing pleasure.

Sony Xperia Z5 shows up before launch

The Xperia Z5 should arrive with a 23MP main camera (visible in the images) that will probably take advantage of a fast hybrid autofocus system that made a debut into the wild with the Xperia M5.

In the leaked images, only the rear and sides of the Z5 smartphone are visible. Still, we can assume that the frontal side will look very similar to the Xperia Z3+, which launched a few months ago.

When the Z5 makes a debut into the wild, it will probably come packing a configuration similar to the Z3+. The new phone should arrive with a 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, although some rumors have indicated that the screen might feature 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution after all (a first for Sony).

Once again, Sony will be using the services of the Snapdragon 810, but hopefully the Japanese tech giant has found some way to optimize the chipset in order to prevent more overheating issues from happening. The Xperia Z3+ has been plagued by such problems and Sony attempted to fix them with a software update which didn’t prove to be all that efficient.

The Snapdragon 810 will be supported by either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and will be water-resistant in the usual Sony fashion. The flagship should be made available in at least three color variations.
