If you've been looking for the perfect camera phone to take with you in your travels and have nothing against Android, then Sony Xperia Z5 is the best option, at least for the moment.

According to photography benchmarking website DoXMark, Sony Xperia Z5 managed to score the highest results in its evaluation tests.

This shouldn't take anyone by surprise since Sony is one of the largest providers of camera modules for smartphones. The Xperia Z5 packs an impressive 23-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which can capture 5520 x 4120 resolution pictures, or 4K videos at 30fps.

The phone's camera includes other features as well, such as phase-detection autofocus, LED flash, HDR and panorama stitch.

Among the strong points of the Xperia Z5's main camera, the cited source mentions very good white balance and color rendering in most situations, along with good detail preservation in both good and low-light conditions.

Also, the camera produces thin noise in low light, and offers good flash exposures with pleasant white balance. The autofocus feature is impressive in all conditions and provided the best scores ever during the evaluation tests.

There are pros and cons, but Xperia Z5 remains the best

When it comes to video capture, Sony Xperia Z5's camera has good focus behavior and detail preservation and noise level. It also produces accurate white balance and color rendering.

Last but not least, it features impressive image stabilization that, according to DxOMark, is far ahead of the competition.

Obviously, the phone's camera has some cons as well, such as artifacts being visible with blue sky saturation and the fact that using flash will produce a slight attenuation that will be visible in the corners.

Tremors sometimes are visible while capturing video, even when using a tripod. Also, in low light, autofocus sometimes starts more slowly when recording a video.

Sony Xperia Z5's main camera managed to score 87 points in the overall performance tests. For more details on these tests and what they mean, make sure to check out DxOMark's website.
