Sony will launch two new Xperia smartphones next week at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018, the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, which apparently will sport a nearly bezel-less design, the latest Android Oreo mobile OS, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 chip.

Evan Blass is reporting for Venture Beat that is preparing to unveil a pair of redesigned flagships at MWC 2018, the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. The two smartphones will apparently be powered by Qualcomm's newest and most powerful Snapdragon 845 processor, a nearly bezel-less design with 5.7-inch and 5.0-inch displays.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact look to come, for the first time, with a higher screen-to-body ratio of 18:9, featuring 3D glass on both faces, according to Venture Beat. On the other hand, the frame is made of aluminum, and the glass is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 to resist scratches and damage.

Sony Xperia XZ2 has a 19MP, f/1.8 4K HDR capable rear camera

Sony is known to have excellent digital cameras for amateur and professional photographers, and it tries to improve the camera units in its phones too with each new flagship. However, it appears that the Sony Xperia XZ2 will have the same 19MP, f/1.8 4K HDR capable camera as the XZ Premium, which isn't bad at all.

Other features include a 3180mAh battery on the Xperia XZ2 model and a smaller 2870mAh battery on the Xperia XZ2 Compact, “S Force” stereo speakers, a haptic feedback system for the Xperia XZ2 only, and Android 8.0 Oreo. The devices will have a glossy finish and might be available in four color options, Black, Silver, Green, and Pink.

Sony will be showcasing the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact at MWC 2018 starting Monday, February 26, when it should announce more details about the new flagships in a press conference, including pricing and worldwide availability.
