Sony officially announced the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact during IFA 2016, and specs of the two smartphones have already been listed on the company's US website. It seems that the two devices are set to arrive in the US soon.

Sony's Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact will be launched in the US in the near future, although the actual launch date is unknown. Still, users can register on Sony's website to get the latest information about the two phones.

Sony's Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact were both announced with fingerprint scanners embedded in their power buttons, but it seems that the company won't be providing the scanners on the models to be sold in the US. In fact, fingerprint scanners will be embedded in home buttons only on variants sold in other countries, outside the US.

The company hasn't provided any explanation as to why it took this measure, and as a confirmation, the specs sheets for the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact don't mention fingerprint scanners. Sony's Xperia X Performance, Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact sold in the US also lacked this feature, although it has become somewhat mandatory on mid-range smartphones as well, not just flagships.

Xperia X Compact sells for the price of about $478 in the UK

The Xperia X Compact is already available in the UK for the price of $478 unlocked and it's expected to carry a similar price tag in the US.

The smartphone comes with a 4.6-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, a very powerful 23MP rear camera, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Battery capacity reaches 2,700mAh and the phone runs on a 64-bit Snapdragon 650 processor.

The Xperia XZ comes with 3GB of RAM, a 2,900mAh battery and Snapdragon 820 processor. Internal memory reaches 32GB and has a 23MP rear camera and 5.2-inch Full HD display, with a 13MP camera in the front.
