Sony might once again start building Windows devices

Sony is one of those smartphone makers that are really trying to keep their business from going under. Like HTC, the Japanese maker hasn’t really managed to impress customers with its latest Xperia Z3+ flagship, which takes advantage of the ill-fated Snapdragon 810 processor.

Even so, Sony doesn’t seem to mind the critique, as recent reports indicate that the company is already prepping the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Pro flagships. The former might even get to see the light of day in a few weeks at IFA 2015.

There has been a rumor going around according to which Sony will be revamping the design of the Xperia Z5 completely, which is good news because the company really needs something fresh to attract customers. But the Xperia Z5 will certainly be an Android touting device.

Seeing as how Sony is struggling to attract customers with new looks, designer Androgama proposes a fresh concept. What if Sony would go back to making Windows Phones? This time with Windows 10 Mobile on board, naturally. Well, Androgama proposes a set of interesting concepts in the form of the Xperia W5, W5+ and W3 (as spotted at Concept Phones).

The first two should be flagship devices while the third is a mid-ranger running on the yet announced Microsoft mobile platform. Let’s see what they got.

According to the concept artist, the Xperia W3 in envisioned with a 5-inch display with 720p resolution and running on an unnamed octa-core processor (we have to assume this is the Snapdragon 615 or the unannounced Snapdragon 620) working hand in hand with 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. The handset bundles an advanced 16MP rear camera plus a 5MP front facing one.

Moving on, the Xperia W5 takes advantage of a 5-inch screen with 1080p resolution support and is powered by an octa-core processor once again (probably the Snapdragon 820), plus 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

In the photo department we could find a 20.1MP rear camera accompanied by a 5MP selfie shooter with wide angle and auto-focus.

Last but not least, the Xperia W5+ is a 5.7-inch affair with 1080p screen (obviously the artist doesn’t think Sony is ready to implement QHD displays yet) with an octa-core processor (Snapdragon 820), 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

On the imaging front, we are seeing the same setup as with the Xperia W5.

So, what do you think? Would you like any of these Windows 10 Mobile phones?
